Rita Lathon, DC, QNCP, LMT

From the time she was a little girl, Dr. Rita knew she wanted to be a Doctor.  She attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated Pre-Med with High Honors. But it took much soul-searching and a job working as a Trauma Tech at Brackenridge Emergency Room to discover that she didn't want to deal with drugs or surgery--so Medical School was out.  She knew she wanted to help people who were sick to get well.  She was passionate about teaching people about nutrition, making better choices, and preventative care.  She also wanted to incorporate her skills as a licensed massage therapist.  But how to do it?

After years of being a long-distance runner and having had several car accidents, including a roll-over, her body was in constant pain.  She finally--almost grudgingly--went to see one of those chiropractic "quacks" and was shocked to find out that for the first time in years, she was pain free! Not only that, but her weekly migraines were gone and her allergies had improved dramatically.

She finally found a career that incorporated all her passions and skills: health and wellness, teaching, and therapeutic touch.

She left her job teaching Math at the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders and headed to Dallas to chiropractic school. There she received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree with High Honors from Parker University, graduating third in her class.

Soon after returning to Austin, Dr. Rita opened Restorative Touch Chiropractic--an integrative clinic that combines manual therapies with Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques, Quantum Neurology, Neuro Emotional Technique and Nutritional Response Testing.  Restorative Touch Chiropractic was born out of a dream to provide affordable yet exceptional health care that addresses the often overlooked mind-body connection. Dr. Rita firmly believes that stress is at the bottom of all disease, but that stress can come in many forms, including: structural imbalances (of the spine and muscles), nutritional imbalances or deficiencies, allergies and sensitivities, toxic buildup, and emotional stress manifesting as physiological imbalances.

Dr. Rita also believes that a truly holistic and individualized approach to healthcare is crucial to get to the root of imbalances, remove interference, and allow the body to heal itself.  No two people are exactly alike, and therefore no two treatments should be exactly alike.

Dr. Rita's goal is to make her patients as independent of her as possible.  After the initial treatment plan, which generally consists of 3-4 visits, most patients come in for check ups/tune-ups every 6 weeks.  Combining Chiropractic Care with Quantum Neurology, Neuro Emotional Technique, Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques, Massage Therapy and Nutritional Response Testing translates to much shorter treatment plans, more lasting results, and many fewer office visits.

Dr. Rita is happily married and the mother of one.  Her biggest hope is that she can be an example to her daughter and inspire her to follow her dreams as she herself did--regardless of how late in life, or how improbable success may seem, or how many obstacles stand in the way.   This is also her hope for her patients regarding their health.  Dr. Rita has had many health challenges, including several disc injuries, Lyme disease, migraines, a history of an eating disorder, depression/anxiety, hypothyroidism, and severe food allergies which, along with the Lyme, led to debilitating joint pain.  She hopes that by sharing her experiences and success in overcoming these obstacles, she can help her patients on their own individual journeys.
